The QCAA publishes external assessment papers under a Creative Commons (CC BY 4.0) licence — rare among Australian exam authorities. That lets us do more than hand you PDFs: every question is broken out individually, mapped to the syllabus subject matter, and paired with an examiner-style solution you self-mark against. You attempt before anything is revealed, then tag why any marks were lost so the next session targets it.

The QCAA external assessment block for General subjects runs from Monday 26 October to Tuesday 17 November 2026, with each subject's papers sat on set days within it. Year 12 results are released on Wednesday 16 December 2026. Always confirm your own subjects' dates against the official QCAA external assessment timetable.
For most QCE General subjects the external assessment contributes 25% of your final subject result. Mathematics and science General subjects — including General Mathematics, Mathematical Methods, Specialist Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Psychology — are weighted 50% external, which is why exam practice matters so much in those subjects.
The QCAA publishes past external assessment papers and marking guides free on its website as PDFs.
