VCE, QCE and interstate exam revision — states and subjects

Captivate Exam Hub turns real past-exam papers into a daily revision loop. Below is every Australian state and territory, and exactly which senior subjects have question coverage today — the rest are on the way.

General Mathematics

Available now

The General Mathematics external exam rewards fluency across a wide syllabus: statistics one minute, annuities or networks the next. Real QCAA past papers are broken down question by question and put into a daily revision loop.

The external exam

  • The external examination contributes 50% of your final subject result.
  • Two papers, sat in the end-of-year external assessment block.
  • Paper 1 includes multiple choice and short response; Paper 2 is short response.
  • Questions span simple familiar through to complex unfamiliar — the top marks live in applying methods to contexts you haven't rehearsed.

Topics covered

  • Bivariate data analysis
  • Time series analysis
  • Growth and decay in sequences
  • Earth geometry and time zones
  • Loans, investments and annuities
  • Graphs and networks
  • Networks and decision mathematics, including critical path analysis

Maths revision lives or dies on working, not recognition. Multi-mark solutions unfold step by step so you say the next move before seeing it, you can photograph handwritten working from paper via a QR code, and the gap log tags why marks were lost — didn't know it, misread, wrong working, careless slip — so the loop drills what actually costs you.

Biology

Available now

Biology is the definition-heavy science: diversity indices, succession, meiosis, natural selection — a large body of precise language the external exam expects you to produce, not just recognise.

The external exam

  • The external examination contributes 50% of your final subject result.
  • Two papers, sat in the end-of-year external assessment block.
  • Paper 1 includes multiple choice and short response; Paper 2 is short response.
  • Short-response marks hinge on command terms and precise use of biological terminology.

Topics covered

  • Describing biodiversity, including species diversity measures
  • Ecosystem dynamics, including succession and energy flow
  • DNA, genes and the continuity of life, including meiosis and biotechnology
  • Continuity of life on Earth: evolution and natural selection

Because Biology runs on retrieval of precise terminology, flashcards do heavy lifting here: one deck per knowledge point with five study modes, scheduled by spaced repetition so definitions stay producible, not just familiar. Brain dumps let you free-recall a whole topic — succession end to end, say — then tick your coverage against its knowledge points to expose exactly what you skipped.

How the revision works

Queensland publishes its external assessment papers under a Creative Commons (CC BY 4.0) licence, which lets us do something PDFs can't: break real exam questions down individually, map each to the syllabus subject matter, and put them into a practice loop with examiner-style solutions. You attempt before anything is revealed, self-mark against the marking points, and tag why any marks were lost so the next session targets it.

  • A daily loop composes one finishable session: quick recall, then the reviews your memory is about to drop (scheduled by FSRS spaced repetition), then past-exam questions on your weakest knowledge points. Our evidence-based revision guide explains the technique with citations.
  • Sit full past papers as one piece with reading time, writing time and deferred marking, or build your own practice paper by topic — see the timed sits guide.
  • Every knowledge point is colour-coded by mastery on the subject heatmap, and your exam-readiness forecast gives a likely-score range built from coverage, accuracy and recency. It's a compass, not a promise.

Pricing

$7 per subject a month, capped at $17.99 for 3–6 subjects. Start with a 3-day free trial — no card required. Stop paying and nothing is deleted; your account goes read-only with your progress saved.

Common questions

Is this affiliated with the QCAA or the VCAA?

No. Captivate Exam Hub is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any curriculum authority. Queensland external assessment papers are published by the QCAA under a CC BY 4.0 licence, and every question derived from them carries its attribution.

My state isn't covered yet — can I still sign up?

You can create an account and pick your state, but practice questions are only available for the subjects marked as available on this page. We add subjects as their question banks are mapped.

Which General Mathematics papers are included?

Questions are drawn from official QCAA General Mathematics external assessment papers, broken down question by question and mapped to the syllabus subject matter. Inside the app you can also regroup them and sit a paper as one timed piece.

Can I use it for internal assessments too?

The practice material is built around the external examination. The underlying skills transfer to problem-solving and modelling tasks, but internals follow your school's instruments — your teacher is the authority there.

Which Biology papers are included?

Questions are drawn from official QCAA Biology external assessment papers, broken down question by question and mapped to the syllabus subject matter. Inside the app you can also regroup them and sit a paper as one timed piece.

Do the flashcards cover the whole syllabus?

Decks are organised per key knowledge point across Units 3 and 4, and the subject heatmap shows coverage explicitly — so you can see which points you haven't touched rather than hoping.
